By Show Production

As darkness falls, projectors will create a digital interpretation of the Northern Lights – a phenomenon that typically appears in the Arctic night but is brought to life here in the city’s hustle and bustle. Step into the light, where nature and technology unite.

By Show Production in collaboration with the Danish Arctic Institute & the North Atlantic House

Join the Sirius Dog Sled Patrol on a visual journey through photos from the Danish Arctic Institute’s archive, displayed at the North Atlantic House.

The Sirius Dog Sled Patrol was established in 1950 and has since patrolled North and Northeast Greenland to enforce Danish sovereignty in the area. Since 1951, the patrol has been based in Daneborg.

Today, the patrol consists of 12 members and around 80 sled dogs. The patrol is named after the brightest star in the sky, Sirius.

The light installation A Tribute to the Sirius Dog Sled Patrol is created in collaboration with the Danish Arctic Institute – an archive of photos, art, and documents about Greenland and the Arctic.

Founded in 1954, the institute is funded by the Danish Agency for Education and Research, as well as private foundations.

The world’s largest photo collection can be viewed online at arktiskebilleder.dk, and the institute also offers physical archives with letters and diaries. During the summer, the changing exhibitions are free to visit.

The institute is located at the Arctic House, Strandgade 102, alongside the Polar Library, University of Copenhagen, and several private businesses.

You can experience the light installations every day from 17.00 – 22.00, from January 31st to February 23rd, 2025.

We look forward to taking you on a journey through light and history – an experience for both young and old.

 INSTALLATION 2
